Kingston Elementary's Mission Statement
The staff and community of Kingston Elementary School are committed to excellence by challenging children to reach their full potential while providing a climate of acceptance and belonging that will enhance self-worth. The curricula and teaching strategies should emphasize relevant learning experiences and help students develop both problem solving and life skills to meet future challenges of our changing world. Learning should occur in a safe, nurturing and orderly environment. This is best facilitated when student, school personnel, parents, and community members work as a team with trust, respect, and mutual accountability.
Kingston Elementary's History
1965 |
Kingston Elementary is opened as a 29 classroom
school. |
1989/90 |
Kingston Elementary is recognized as a Blue
Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. |
1990 |
A gymnasium is added to Kingston Elementary. |
1996/97 |
Kingston Elementary is recognized as a Blue
Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for the second
time. |
1998/99 |
Kingston Elementary is fully accredited according
to the Virginia Standards of Learning in third and fifth grade. |
Kingston Elementary's Community
Kingston Elementary School is located in the Lynnhaven Borough of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our school grounds occupy over 25 acres in an overall upper-middle class neighborhood composed of single-family homes and one major apartment complex. Kingston is a well-established neighborhood with minimum new construction.
